X-Ray Style

I'm Kara, and I make menswear. I love odd, grungey things, found objects, and dark music. I draw and write as well.

Spectacular colour into this arid Utah desert by Guy Tal

"Every few years, for a few fleeting days, when conditions are just right, these otherwise arid lands burst into color with carpets of Scorpionweed and Beeplant." - Utah’s badlands"

The Badlands region in the American West is famous (or infamous) for its arid and unforgiving landscape, which is decorated by sharp and eroded spires of stone. If you catch it at just the right moment and in the right conditions, however, these apparent wastelands can give birth to an extraordinary explosion of color and life in the form of beautiful wildflowers.

It’s been a pretty great summer. My boyfriend and I spent a week in Las Vegas for EVO, and he came back to NYC with me for an extended vacation. I took some shorter adventures to Coney Island, home to Philly, Annapolis and Lewes Delaware. I just moved to Washington heights and I’m hoping more good things happen going into the fall.

Found a Gunne Sax dress in perfect condition . Can’t wait to wear it on a beautiful spring day. #fashion #vintage # gunnesax #style #1970

This year has been completely crazy. In august I moved to New York to work as a freelance designer. My steady job is as a denim specialist at diesel. My boyfriend moved to San Antonio for work so we’re doing the long distance thing. The first photo is from when I visited him in march. It’s very strange living in New York, and I’m not very happy here, but I am hoping the summer will bring good experiences my way. I took the second photo near Bryant park after meeting a good friend and fellow Philadelphia transplant. It helps me to put into perspective all the amazing things I have and that even if I don’t quite like it here, I am lucky to be here.

Hey people. I am alive! I have more natural hair now and I spend most of my time working at Diesel but sometimes I get the chance to take pictures of myself with little stuffed animals. This time, it’s my puffer fish. This outfit is supposed be sexy schoolgirl under the sea themed.
Anyway, I haven’t been doing much more than working, but hopefully I’ll have some projects starting up soon.
